How To Avoid Pumpkin Rot
Use these tricks to extend your decor this fall
Autumn is a beautiful time of year - crisp air, mums, changing leaves & pumpkins everywhere - it’s all great until you see that little soft spot on the pumpkin which means rot has begun. Here are some ways to make your pumpkins last longer & avoid rot before Halloween hits
Give them a quick bath! Before putting them out for display, get a bucket of water with a splash of bleach to soak the pumpkins in for about two minutes. This will clean off your pumpkins nicely & (hopefully) increase their lifespan by killing any bacteria.
Location is key! Putting your pumpkins on your porch or under some sort of covering helps avoid direct sun exposure & rain. These elements can move rot along when the pumpkin has a lot of exposure to both.
Don’t carve them unless it’s a week or so until you’re ready to toss ‘em
